This Harakeke weaving workshop has been specially designed for school-age participants 9 - 17 years. (9-12 years must be accompanied by an adult). Your tutor Oz Risner makes being introduced to Harakeke Weaving a fun and friendly experience as you get to learn how to create puti-puti flowers, kono baskets, and more. Oz will also introduce you to the Tikanga of weaving with Harakeke- NZ Flax, the cultural customs and values of this traditional māori craft.
NZ Flax - Harakeke is the most enduring of all New Zealand native plants, a natural resource, and easily accessible. Over time your harakeke weaving will take on a glorious golden hue.
