Harakeke Fishing Baskets - Kete Kupenga - Tutored by Yvonne Hammond

  • 6 Jan 2024 (10:00 am) to 7 Jan 2024 (16:00 pm)
  • Inangahua Hall, 49 Upper Buller Gorge Road, Inangahua, Buller, New Zealand, 7895, New Zealand
  • Show on map

This delightful kete the Kupenga is akin to the fishing basket...woven with lots of space in and around the harakeke, woven specifically to harvest kumara and shellfish.

Weaving is a living art form, passed down from the ancestors and a strong symbol of the survival of Maori culture.  The kete is used for everyday life.

This is a fun workshop suitable for beginner weavers as well as those with some harakeke experience.
