This delightful kete the Kupenga is akin to the fishing basket...woven with lots of space in and around the harakeke, woven specifically to harvest kumara and shellfish.
Weaving is a living art form, passed down from the ancestors and a strong symbol of the survival of Maori culture. The kete is used for everyday life.
This is a fun workshop suitable for beginner weavers as well as those with some harakeke experience.
