Embroidered Artwork: Transfer and Stitch tutored by Rosie Horn

During this one-day extension workshop, there will be an opportunity to combine embroidery with photographic imagery that has been printed on fabric.  The imagery is from Rosie's own photographic collection of stunning New Zealand landscapes and flora.

You start by choosing which custom printed image you would like as the basis for your embroidery, then transfer the design onto the fabric, this design will be enhanced with your embroidery stitches.

Rosie will introduce you to some basic 'low-tech' ways of transferring images onto fabric and guide you to identify what stitches work best for the design. This is ideal for practicing stitches you already know in addition to learning more complex stitches for your artwork.

You can choose to make the stitching as simple or complex as you wish, doing a simple outline or filling in with colour and texture.

Designs will be provided, or you are welcome to bring designs you would like to use. You could also bring any piece of fabric you would like to use for the embroidery.

At the end of the workshop, you will have a small artwork that you can continue working on at home.
